FAQ
What is a Sablé Cookie?
We often get asked what makes a sablé different from a standard cookie. Pronounced “sah-blay,” it’s a classic French butter cookie with a history we’ve always admired.
The recipe originates from Normandy, a region in France famous for its rich, creamy, golden butter. It’s been a staple in French homes since the 17th century, but what we love most is its name, which literally means “sand.” That might sound strange until you take your first bite; the name perfectly describes that delicate, crumbly texture that melts away on your tongue. We’ve kept our version small and light, with just the right thickness so you can really feel those buttery crumbles.
While we love to get creative with flavors, we always start with the same four essential ingredients that made us fall in love with pastry in the first place: premium flour, European style butter, salt, and sugar. It’s simple, honest, and—in our opinion—the perfect canvas for a truly great snack.
